Getting Freebies vs. Creating a Facebook Account

This is icon for social networking website. Th...Image via Wikipedia
Hello everyone!

A lot of users ask freebie bloggers questions similar to "Can I get all the freebies that companies offer on Facebook without having to join?" While very few companies offer an outside link, most have their request form embedded into their Facebook page, using applications that require you to "Like" their fan page before the form is available to fill out. I believe that a Facebook account created specifically for samples and promotional offers are a wonderful idea.

I created my account (on Facebook and Twitter) originally for this purpose but was lured into socializing with others LOL. While my Twitter account is 95% business, I do occasionally have the social tweet thrown in there. My Facebook, on the other hand, is probably 50-50 personal and business but I do keep it as private as I can to people not on my friend list. Shannon at For the Mommas shows you how to create a very private Facebook account so you don't have to miss out on all the goodies.

See you tomorrow for Freebie Friday!

S'more's Contest & Invitation

I entered a contest last week about Hershey S'mores. I am one of 100 winners and besides winning the prize I received an invitation to the Hershey's S'mores Snacktivity Suite at Blogher '10. Only thing is, I'm not attending the conference this year. The invitation is shareable so if you or anyone you know would like me to forward the invitation to their email, use my contact form (under the sections of YW&M) and leave your email. I am entering a contest for an Ultimate S’mores prize pack as a member of the Mom Bloggers Club and this post is my entry.

Our question is when is your family’s favorite time to enjoy S’mores:
A. During a Backyard Campout
B. Inside on a Rainy Day
C. After School
D. During a Backyard Barbeque, or
E. Just Because

My family's favorite time to enjoy S'mores is (E) "Just Because." Maybe one day we'll turn it into a tradition or something when the baby gets bigger but for now we're fine with doing it spontaneously. Whenever we just want something warm and delicious this is our go-to treat!

For S'mores recipes and other goodies check out

Have a great day everyone!

Review: Tommee Tippee Infant and Toddler Feeding

Hello everyone!

Today I am reviewing the Tommee Tippee Exlpora Water bottle, Easi-mat, and Weaning bowls (with lid and spoon.) I was provided these products free of charge from the Mom Bloggers Club and Tommee Tippee in order to facilitate this review. I have the option of keeping the products or doing a giveaway and have chosen to keep the free products. The opinions contained in this review are mine solely and have not been edited in any way by anyone. In other words, I have complete control over this review and will not hold back anything LOL!

On to the good stuff!

Tommee Tippee is the #1 brand of infant and toddler feeding products in Great Britain. They are from the UK-based Mayborn Group Limited and recently became available to us in the US. They have won numerous international awards including being chosen as the best bay bottle in Great Britain's The Mother and Baby Gold Awards.

Let me give you some background on my family. My daughter is 11 months and ACTIVE. She is walking very well with a few falls on the butt here and there but needless to say she's on the move. She does not like drinking from anything but juice boxes and big people cups since she can get juice from them faster (super messy.) She likes to feed herself because she thinks Mommy takes too long in between spoonfuls so she gets it herself!

Here is a photo of the actual products we recieved and reviewed.

Why a parent would need/want these products?
In my case, my child is super messy so I need some help in feeding her without having to spend twice as long cleaning up.

The 12 oz water bottle is BPA Free, dishwasher safe, leak proof and designed for children 18 months and older. This is a good option for a child that wants the look of big people cups (water bottles) without the mess. Even though these cups are designed for children aged 18 months and other, my daughter handled it just fine. She was able to pick it up and hold it up with the grips on the side of the cup. At first I was concerned that she wasn't getting enough to drink. As embarrassing as this is, I tried the bottle myself just to make sure it wasn't too hard for her to sip like her last cup. I was pleasantly surprised that, actually, she was getting a steady enough of a flow with minimal effort that she didn’t drink too much (like she normally does with big people cups and juice box straws.) The only thing with her being so active, is that she kept dropping it when she tried to walk. So this is more of a sit down cup than a take along.

The Easi-mat is BPA free, dishwasher safe and designed for children 4 months and older. Its purpose is to secure baby bowls and plates during feedings and it did stick to virtually any smooth surface - the counter, high chair, coffee table, etc. The mat did hold her snack cups without letting them tip over. However, The more she pulled snacks from the bowls, the less suction the mat had to the bowl, so eventually I had to reposition the bowls on the suction cup, which is super easy so it really wasn't a big deal for me. We just used the bowls for snacks but for liquid or spoon fed meals you shouldn't have this issue The mat stayed in position the entire time until I removed it. The mat is also roll-able for easy storage.

The 2 pack, 11 oz weaning bowls are BPA free, microwaveable/ dishwasher safe, and are designed for children 6 months and older. They also came with one lid and one spoon. The cool thing about the lid was that it has a space to store the spoon. So after washing the set you can keep the spoon tip sterile until feeding which is great if you're taking it on the road. The lid fit snugly, so no leaks there. The spoon has a soft square-shaped tip for baby's delicate mouth.

My Overall Opinion: The Explora feeding line is a great addition to any baby registry, a gift for any new parent, or replacement feeding products for your family's peace of mind.

Where to find these products:
Special Deal Available Now:
Now through Friday, July 23 - Buy any Explora item (cups and toddler feeding), get the second 50% off at (

If you're not able to take advantage of this offer now, be sure to checkout Tommee Tippee's Facebook and Twitter pages for future offers, and while you're there follow me on Twitter @curlygurl87.

Take care!

Happy 100th Post!!

WOW! This has been my hundredth post since I began blogging in January. Thank you to all of my readers, visitors, and fellow bloggers for your support of this blog through comments, regular visits and just stopping by every once in a while. I love finding deals that I can afford on a non-existent homemaker's budget. I blog because I love to share what I find. I love to be helpful to others.

Fun Fact: I actually keep most of my freebies in a box, like a treasure chest of goodies that I can go to on a rainy day. Food samples never make it past the first week LOL (too yummy not to try asap.)

I am determined to post regularly three times weekly - Mailbox Monday (freebie check), Wordless Wednesday (random family photo), and Freebie Friday (newest freebies). Occasionally, there will be posts about one-day only deals. Some are just too good to keep to myself, so I make the effort to post.

There will also be more product reviews (or links to my product reviews on other sites,) I am also expanding the blog to include pages dedicated to different types of freebies such as digital books/magazines. I have made single posts about all of these and they turned out extremely long. So now they will be their own section.

I look forward to sharing more with you. Lets see how fast the next 100 posts pass by!
God bless =)
