Review: Tommee Tippee Infant and Toddler Feeding

by - Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Hello everyone!

Today I am reviewing the Tommee Tippee Exlpora Water bottle, Easi-mat, and Weaning bowls (with lid and spoon.) I was provided these products free of charge from the Mom Bloggers Club and Tommee Tippee in order to facilitate this review. I have the option of keeping the products or doing a giveaway and have chosen to keep the free products. The opinions contained in this review are mine solely and have not been edited in any way by anyone. In other words, I have complete control over this review and will not hold back anything LOL!

On to the good stuff!

Tommee Tippee is the #1 brand of infant and toddler feeding products in Great Britain. They are from the UK-based Mayborn Group Limited and recently became available to us in the US. They have won numerous international awards including being chosen as the best bay bottle in Great Britain's The Mother and Baby Gold Awards.

Let me give you some background on my family. My daughter is 11 months and ACTIVE. She is walking very well with a few falls on the butt here and there but needless to say she's on the move. She does not like drinking from anything but juice boxes and big people cups since she can get juice from them faster (super messy.) She likes to feed herself because she thinks Mommy takes too long in between spoonfuls so she gets it herself!

Here is a photo of the actual products we recieved and reviewed.

Why a parent would need/want these products?
In my case, my child is super messy so I need some help in feeding her without having to spend twice as long cleaning up.

The 12 oz water bottle is BPA Free, dishwasher safe, leak proof and designed for children 18 months and older. This is a good option for a child that wants the look of big people cups (water bottles) without the mess. Even though these cups are designed for children aged 18 months and other, my daughter handled it just fine. She was able to pick it up and hold it up with the grips on the side of the cup. At first I was concerned that she wasn't getting enough to drink. As embarrassing as this is, I tried the bottle myself just to make sure it wasn't too hard for her to sip like her last cup. I was pleasantly surprised that, actually, she was getting a steady enough of a flow with minimal effort that she didn’t drink too much (like she normally does with big people cups and juice box straws.) The only thing with her being so active, is that she kept dropping it when she tried to walk. So this is more of a sit down cup than a take along.

The Easi-mat is BPA free, dishwasher safe and designed for children 4 months and older. Its purpose is to secure baby bowls and plates during feedings and it did stick to virtually any smooth surface - the counter, high chair, coffee table, etc. The mat did hold her snack cups without letting them tip over. However, The more she pulled snacks from the bowls, the less suction the mat had to the bowl, so eventually I had to reposition the bowls on the suction cup, which is super easy so it really wasn't a big deal for me. We just used the bowls for snacks but for liquid or spoon fed meals you shouldn't have this issue The mat stayed in position the entire time until I removed it. The mat is also roll-able for easy storage.

The 2 pack, 11 oz weaning bowls are BPA free, microwaveable/ dishwasher safe, and are designed for children 6 months and older. They also came with one lid and one spoon. The cool thing about the lid was that it has a space to store the spoon. So after washing the set you can keep the spoon tip sterile until feeding which is great if you're taking it on the road. The lid fit snugly, so no leaks there. The spoon has a soft square-shaped tip for baby's delicate mouth.

My Overall Opinion: The Explora feeding line is a great addition to any baby registry, a gift for any new parent, or replacement feeding products for your family's peace of mind.
